Screening in the Cour des Arches of the film Griffeuille en Fête,
presenting 1665 unretouched raw photographs from Iris Brosch’s production. Iris Brosch went with her team to the Griffeuille district of Arles, a disadvantaged neighborhood marked by strong social disparities, to portrait the local citizens. Many women and children were photographed, often showing joyful and expressive faces. The resulting body of work was later presented as a film in the Cour des Arches. The projection of images was accompanied by a live music performance by the Philharmonic de la Roquette.
GRIFFEUILLE EN FÊTE (July 7th 2023)
A single afternoon in Griffeuille, Arles, unfolded into an unforgettable summer celebration where locals came together for a shared meal.
The complete session of 1665 unretouched raw photos was shown the day after in the Cour de l’Archevêché for the ON/OFF festival (@onoff_arles) where Iris Brosch was on stage interviewed by Aimée-Sara Bernard («entre nous c’est JUSTE TEXTUEL»)
Thank you to the citizens of Griffeulle who welcomed us with open arms!
As the Mayor of Arles is joining the summer celebration, the children were not shy to position him on a chair and have his picture taken as well.
RENAISSANCE (April 2023)
This short version of the RENAISSANCE project was screened at the ON/OFF festival in Arles, 2023. The results were also exhibited at the IRK Gallery for the Rencontres Photo in Arles 2023 during July 2023.
Footages for RENAISSANCE were taken in New York City at the Hotel Selina Chelsea in May 2023.
The Renaissance of female energy is now. For this performance, Iris gave life to a Renaissance tableau to celebrate the unique strengths and talents that unite women across the world. Iris Brosch created a Venus who fully embraces womanhood - a real image of women, especially the ones that have been underrepresented in society. Fertility, sensuality, femininity and beauty come in different shapes and complexities, all rooting in the same female connection. Prepare for a new Renaissance, the Renaissance of women, by women, for women.
